Richard Curphey, Administrator

Richard has been with West Ridge since May 2002. He is a graduate of Wartburg College and holds degrees in Management of Leisure Services and Healthcare Administration with a minor in Business. He had 17 years of long-term care experience prior to joining West Ridge.

Sarah Case, LBSW, Admissions Coordinator/Social Worker

Sarah joined the West Ridge family in November 2010. She is a graduate of Mount Mercy College with a B.A. in Social Work and earned her Masters in Organizational Leadership from St. Ambrose University. Sarah works closely with our families and Elders on the admission process to ensure a smooth transition into long-term care. She also helps Elders who are here for skilled care coordinate services they may need upon their return home or to a lesser level of care. With over 20 years of experience in the Human Services field, Sarah’s studies and past employment reflect her devotion and respect for our Edlers and their families.

Chuck Bailey, Environmental Services Supervisor

Chuck has been with West Ridge since February 1992. He had 20 years of experience in a hospital setting prior to joining our staff. Chuck supervises staff in laundry, housekeeping and maintenance departments as well as being the Safety Officer for West Ridge.

Donna Staton, RN, Director of Nursing

Donna has over 30 years of managerial experience in long-term care. She is a graduate of St. Luke’s School of Nursing in Cedar Rapids and has an Associate of Arts degree in Health Care Administration from DMACC. She supervises the entire nursing department and promotes quality care for the residents.

Katie Ross, RN, COTA, MDS Coordinator

Katie joined the West Ridge team in November 2005. She is responsible for completing assessments and coordinating each Elders individualized care plan to ensure needs are met. She has worked on long-term care for 13 years. Katie has a passion for caring for the Elders in her community. She has Associate of Applied Science degrees in nursing and occupational therapy.

Becky Pickart, Dietary Supervisor

Becky has been with West Ridge since August 1993. She began her employment as a dietary aide and cook before becoming the Department Supervisor in August 1997. She supervises all of the cooks and dietary aides and works with the Dietician to ensure quality meals and snacks for our Elders.

Charlene Vasey-Larson, RD, LD, Dietician

Charlene has been with West Ridge since March 2004. She is a graduate of Iowa State University with a degree in Food and Nutrition-Dietetics. She has 16 years’ experience working in long-term care as a Consultant Dietician. She works loosely with Becky to develop varied menus to please the palates of our Elders.

Julia Winterboer, Director of Recreation and Community Services

Julia has been with West Ridge since December 1999. She attended the University of Northern Iowa and has a degree in Recreational Therapy. She had five years of long-term care experience prior to joining West Ridge. Julia is responsible for designing the recreational programs offered by West Ridge as well as promoting the Eden Alternative. She supervises two assistants.

Therapy Staff

Lisa Rabik, Occupational Therapy Assistant/Program Director.

Lisa has been at West Ridge since December 2007. She is a graduate of Kirkwood Community College with an associate's degree in occupational therapy, she has 23 years experience in occupational therapy working with elders in long term care.

Katie Shea, Licensed Occupational Therapist

Katie has been at West Ridge Care Center since 2007. She is a graduate of St. Ambrose University with 15 years experience in long term care.

Tracy Crow, Licensed Speech Language Pathologist/Certificate of Clinical Competence

Tracy has been at West Ridge since July 2010. A graduate of Northern Illinois University, she received an Associates in Applied Science as a Speech Language Pathologist Assistant from College of DuPage, Bachelors Degree in Communicative Disorders, and Masters degree in Speech Language Pathology. She has 7 years experience working in speech language pathology, with 1 1/2 of those years working with the adult and geriatric population.

Jodi Finzel, Licensed Physical Therapist Assistant

Jodi has been at West Ridge Care Center since March 2010. A graduate of Southern Illinois University, Associates degree in Physical Therapy, Bachelor in Health Care Management, she has 20 years experience in Physical Therapy working with elders in long term care and home health settings.
