West Ridge Care Center is a licensed skilled care nursing facility accepting Medicare and private pay residents. Since its opening in 1992, West Ridge has established itself as one of the finest nursing care facilities in the area. We are proud of our reputation as a place where Elders will receive quality care and individual attention to their needs. West Ridge was conceived and designed with our Elders in mind. We have 52 private rooms and 4 suites that can be used as luxury private rooms or accommodate couples. We recognized from the beginning that private rooms provide a much more comfortable and home-like environment for our Elders and their families. Private rooms can help alleviate some of the anxiety that typically occurs when a person requires the services of a nursing care facility. As a relatively small facility, our administrator and staff are able to be more personally involved with the residents and their families and work together to optimize the well-being of the people entrusted to our care. We offer skilled nursing care focusing on treating the whole person- physically, emotionally and socially. In rehabilitation, the goal is to return a person to their optimum level of function and open the door to a better quality of life. Our focus is to help people reach quality outcomes and return home or to a lesser level of care.  West Ridge is proud to be known as a "community of care" where each person feels welcome, well-known, and where life is worth living. While we cannot reverse the course of aging, we can assist our Elders to be as comfortable and independent as possible in the comforting setting West Ridge provides. For people no longer able to care for themselves in their own home, West Ridge offers a home-like setting, embracing the philosophies of the Eden Alternative. Each Elder is recognized as an individual with physical, social and spiritual needs. As the only registered Eden Alternative faciltiy in the Cedar Rapids area, we strive to eliminate the three plagues- loneliness, helplessness and boredom, that tend to affect long term care. West Ridge has live-in animals, a variety of plants and ongoing relationships with children. The human habitat is built around the songs of birds, the echoes of children's laughter and the beauty of green growing plants. We provide 24 hour nursing care and have one of the only secure units for people with dementia in the Cedar Rapids area. Our compassionate staff are specifically trained to address the challenges that face our Elders. The end of independent living does not have to mean the end of dignified, fulfilling life.  West Ridge Care Center endeavors to connect with the community around us and to help our Elders keep their ties to their communities. We have ongoing relationships with Truman Elementary, churches and play groups, as well as with other organizations and businesses. Outings play a large part of our Activity Program. Shopping trips, eating out, and trips to local attractions are some of the excursions we take. West Ridge works closely with several area Hospice organizations.
